A Special Visitor at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory and at the Gazelle Valley!

Last week, the JBO was honored with a presidential visit by Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and an avid birdwatcher.
At the Gazelle Valley, he watched the gazelles and a sparrowhawk flying over the Valley.
The former president was impressed to hear about the plans to form an urban nature site at the Gazelle Valley.
At the JBO, he was extremely enthusiastic and interested in the ringing process, and finished his visit by releasing a wryneck that had just been ringed and by planting an olive tree at the JBO site.
Before leaving for a meeting with Abu Mazen, the newly-elected chairman of the Palestinian Authority, President Carter was presented with two souvenirs of his visit:  a JBO tee-shirt and a bird feeder.
